Favre Over the Top
Agent K
(Packers 06-07) 14 - Agent K (Bears 06-07) 0
Since
Brett Favre announced his retirement today,
Agents J and K decided to download a user created rom
and simulate Favre against the vaunted Super
Bowl Bears of 06-07. Unfortunately
for the Bears they did not have their MVP Devin Hester. MVP really means only offensive
weapon. Well onto the game. We realize Brett Favre
did not star in Over the Top, Sylvester Stallone’s amazing arm wrestling
movie. But he did throw two deep
balls over the top of the Bears defense which accounted for the all the
Packers points. Favre was his normal gunslinger self, throwing incompletions all over the field. However, Ahmen
Green was a beast and set the Bears up for some play action, action. In fact, on one play, Agent J sent in Urlacher for the sack which left Jennings open for a looong
scoring pass. As for the Bears
offense, hmm anemic only begins to explain their passing attack. The creators of this rom did an excellent job representing Grossman who
threw two picks and generally over threw his receivers. Enjoy your retirement Favre,
you went out like a champion.
Favre Into Traffic
Agent K
(Packers 06-07) 17 - Agent K (Bears 06-07) 16
In this
the first game of the Favre vs. the Bears matchup Agents J and K got to know their new teams. Both were surprised to see that A. J.
Hawk is a beast and later realized that Woodson is even better. It is our theory that whoever created
this rom is a cheesehead
and as Bears fans we are upset. Okay
Agent K isn’t too upset since he own both matchups. This
was a crazy game and as the score indicates the Bears were able to haul Favre down in the endzone. But what is not indicates is the fact
that it was not on a picked play.
The lineman busted through and it was a safety. Rex Grossman’s
numbers look good but he was not good.
He wasted many opportunities overthrowing wide open down field
receivers. He even fumbled a snap,
very Grossman like. However, Grossman
was able to complete a slew of short passes until Agent K figured out
Woodson was a beast and short him down.
In the 4th quarter the Bears were up 16-7 and it looked
over. But the gunslinger came on
the field and winged a ball into the endzone. Urlacher had
Driver covered so well that when Driver celebrated it looked like Urlacher had 4 arms.
It was Favre to a T. Taking chances and coming through. The Bears were stuffed by Woodson, the
Packers kicked a field goal, and elation ensued!

Phil Simms = Unstoppable.
Agent K
(Giants) 28 - Agent J (Bears) 7
Agent J decided
to try out the Raiders today against Agent K’s vaunted
Giants. Both teams scored like
crazy. The Giants surprisingly had
a well balanced attack, even with Bo Jackson. The Giants, well simply put, aired it
out with Simms. Throwing into
coverage, no problem. Hitting wide
open guys, no problem. Stephen
Baker caught a couple of deep balls off of play action and scored a few TDs. In fact,
he had three TDs, not a bad day. The story was offense, both teams
having nearly 300 yards is astounding for Agents J and K.

OT Glory
Agent J
(Eagles) 27 - Agent K (Giants) 21
After getting owned by Agent K the last
couple times when he controlled the Eagles, Agent J knew he needed to
make some changes. This game marked
the beginning of the Eagles offense coming to life against the vaunted
Giants defense. After a Heath
Sherman fumble gave the Giants an almost insurmountable 21-7 lead, the
Eagles offense came to life. They
quickly scored on some QB Eagles sneaks and then sacked Phil Simms and
caused him to fumble; Jerome Brown then picked up the ball and ran it
into the end zone to tie it up at 21 just like that. The Giants then had about 2 minutes to
punch the ball into the end zone but sputtered quickly and actually had
to punt the ball with less than a minute left in the game. With the clock ticking down, QB Eagles
dropped back to pass and found Barnett open on the top of the
screen. Barnett caught it and
raced toward the end zone only to get caught with one second on the
clock. Thankfully, Barnett was out
of bonds giving the Eagles one last play.
But wait! The refs said
that he was tackled in bounds and the clock expired sending this thriller
to OT. As always, Agent J won the
coin toss and put on an offensive clinic that resulted in a Heath Sherman
touchdown run to seal the deal.
Eagles win in OT and Agent J remains undefeated when contests head
to the 5th quarter. QB
Eagles also set a record with his 196 yards rushing in the game.
The Giants last hurrah.
Agent J
(Eagles) 21 - Agent K (Giants) 17
Agent J
stunned Agent K again with a nail-biting 21-17 victory. Once again the Giants could not stop
the Eagles rushing attack. In
fact, this game featured some of the poorest defensive play of these
historic battles. With each side
only being stopped on offense one time.
In the first half Heath Sherman fumbled again, this time on his
own 20, but the turnover only cost the Eagles 3 points. That stalled drive would come back to
haunt the Giants. Agent J then
benched Heath Sherman and brought in Keith Byers who knew better than to
fumble and QB Eagles and Byers owned the Giants on the ground leading to
a 21-17 lead with 1:44 left for the Giants to score a touchdown. The Giants were able to move a bit but
just didn’t have enough time to
score. One interesting note was
that the Giants took up the entire third quarter on a scoring drive,
which gives you an idea as to why they didn’t have
enough time at the end to muster a winning drive. Game 2 did result in another record,
Stephen Baker’s 7 receptions destroyed
the previous record of 4 held by Ron Morris and Wendell Davis of the
Bears.

Neal and his fumbles.
Agent K
(Giants) 28 - Agent J (Bears) 7
Well it was blowout Sunday and Agent K was
the one doing the whooping. Game 1
was over before halftime. On the
first drive of the game Neal Anderson fumbled. The next drive the Bears were stopped
cold and the next drive Harbough threw a pick
close to his own endzone. After Meggett
punched it in the score was 14-0 and it wasn’t even halftime yet. To make matters worse the Bears had to
kickoff to start the 2nd half and things continued to go
downhill. A couple of bombs from
Phil Simms and another Anderson
fumble and when the final whistle blew it was
28-7. Looking at Phil Simms it is
not surprising the Giants were victorious. He was 5-5 for 163 yards. That means he threw deep and connected
with his receivers.
The Giants last hurrah.
Agent K
(Giants) 28 - Agent J (Bears) 7
Game 2
also featured a Giants blowout.
However, this game was a different story. Late in the first half it was all tied
up at 7. The Giants were driving
and got down to the 20 yard line.
They were not able to punch it in so decided a chip shot field
goal was better than no points.
However, as Agent K attempted to select field goal, he somehow
selected punt. Oh the humanity. There is no undo or timeout option in Tecmo Super Bowl so 3 points went out the
window. The 2nd half
was a whole different ball game.
Agent J again had to punt to start the 2nd half and the
Giants immediately took advantage.
They pounded the ball with Meggett and
were able to take a 14-0 lead. The
drive featured Meggett running up the middle
for 40 yards. The Bears drove back
down the field but threw a pick and again Meggett
broke off a long run and the Giants were suddenly up 21-0. In Tecmo
Super Bowl that is a hard score to come back from. The Bears were surprised to be down so
many points without having Neal Anderson fumble the ball so Neal
rectified that problem, fumbled it, and Pepper Johnson rubbed some pepper
in the wound and ran it back for a touchdown. Ball game. Agent K is a bit saddened by the last 2
games because now he has to give up his beloved Giants for a different,
fair, team. Any suggestions? Maybe the Chiefs, Raiders, Eagles, he’s not
sure what team to take.

Watch out for that 2nd
quarter, it’s a doozy.
Agent K
(Giants) 23 - Agent J (Bears) 7
What a strange day in
Tecmo Super Bowl. Usually Agents J
and K have tight hard fought matches, but today was different. Two blowouts went into the books with
Agent K winning the first. The
story of this game was the 2nd quarter. In a span of about 2 minutes the Giants
scored a touchdown, stopped the Bears, saftied the Bears, recovered an
onside kick, and punched in another TD.
For all you math majors out there you have surely calculated 16
points and all in the blink on an eye.
Other than the 2nd quarter explosion it was a pretty
ugly day for the offense. Neal
Anderson picked up some yards but Harbough didn’t complete a single pass and the Giants offense was
anemic.
Fumbles Ahoy.
Agent J
(Bears) 28 - Agent K (Giants) 10
Our second game was yet another
blowout with another defensive stretch.
At the start of the second half the Bears were doing well up 14-10
with the ball. Agent J completed a
pass and Ron Morris coughed it up.
Hmm, would this be the turning point. First play from scrimmage we had our
answer. Dave Meggett got the ball,
the play was picked, and suddenly the football was on the turf. Mark Carrier scooped it up and took off
running, no problem there are 3 guys in his way. Boing, bounce, boing, they all bounced
off like ping pong balls. Another
35 yards later and it is 21-10.
The Giants were demoralized and while they did put some drives
together they just couldn’t put the ball back in
the endzone. The strangest part
of this game is the fact that the Giants had substantially more
yards. Normally Agent K has less
yards, even in a victory. Finally
he got more yards and got crushed.
Hmm, does Agent J have a new bend but don’t break defense.
Only the future will tell.

Give Me Some Pepper!
Agent K
(Giants) 14 - Agent J (Bears) 7
Game 1 was one defensive
battle. The Chicago Bears defense
completely shut down the Giants; holding them to 48 yards rushing and 0
yards passing. The Giants defense
was solid allowing just over 200 yards of total offense. The difference was that the Giants
defense made huge clutch plays led by an unusual hero – Pepper Johnson.
In the first half his almost-safety of Jim Harbaugh led to an
interception right near the Bears own end zone, which led to a
touchdown. Then with the score
tied at 7-7 late in the fourth quarter, the Giants guessed the handoff to
Neal Anderson correctly and forced him to fumble. Who was there to pick up the loose
ball? Pepper Johnson, of
course! Not only did he pick up
the fumble but he rumbled his way 50 yards for the game-winning
touchdown! Talk about a game that
was all about defense! You can be
sure Agent J won’t be using pepper at his
house any time soon…
Butler vs. L.T.
Agent J
(Bears) 10 - Agent K (Giants) 7
Game 2 was very reminiscent of Game 1
today. Once again the Bears proved
superior by allowing far less total yards and completely shutting down
the Giants rushing attack. But once
again the Giants defense won the all-important turnover battle. This time around Agent K left no doubt
that he has mastered Agent J’s
briefly successful passing attack by intercepting 3 passes and allowing
just 35 yards through the air. The
story of the game though was once again Neal Anderson and his hands. With the Bears ahead 7-0 late in the
fourth quarter all Agent J had to do was run out the clock. But for some strange reason he decided
that running out the clock meant giving the ball to Neal Anderson. Just like in Game 1, Agent K correctly
guessed the play and caused a Neal Anderson fumble. He then returned the ball over 50 yards
to his own 10-yard line with time for just one play. Agent K picked pass and so did Agent J. With his play picked did Agent K
panic? Nope, he calmly tossed a
pass into the end zone to send the game to OT. Agent K lost the coin toss (for the 2nd
OT game) and decided to onside the kick for some strange reason. He didn’t recover it and Agent J was able to move into field goal
range. Of course field goals
against the Giants are no picnic since Lawrence Taylor gives you about 1
second to kick before he jumps in to block it. Agent J sent out Kevin Butler who gave
it a quick boot but L.T. was still
able to jump in for the block. The
game flashed to the cut scene where the crowd watched Taylor just miss the kick and allow the
ball to sail through the uprights.
Neal Anderson was saved but he has left Agent J seriously
wondering about his future in the starting lineup…

The Extra Point
Agent
K (Giants) 14 - Agent J (Bears) 13
Game
1 today featured Lawrence Taylor running wild on special teams, thus
the title The Extra Point. In an
unusual game Agent K absolutely stopped Neal Anderson and the Bears
rushing attack, holding them to a paltry 18 yards. Midway through the first quarter
Agent J recognized the problem and started throwing the ball. Now this can be a real disaster with
the Bears but it was working today for Agent J and Harbaugh
had a great game. Agent J,
stormed down and punched in the score in the 2nd quarter to
go up 6 – 0. Now for the
extra point, oh no here comes the cut screen, LT jumps in front and
BLOCKED!! What happened, well
the screen stuttered for a moment, right when Agent J tried to kick
it. He claims he hit the button
8 times and Butler
never kicked it, but LT had no mercy and stuffed it. Again later the Bears attempted a
field goal and LT stuffed that one as well (no stutter this time
baby). The Giants were able to
score 2 touchdowns, one thanks to a Harbaugh
pick in his own territory. The
Giants last score was in the 4th quarter and Agent K kicked
off, but accidentally kicked an onside.
Whoops not a good idea.
The Bears came down and scored their 2nd touchdown to
tie it all up. But wait, that’s
right, they missed an extra point.
Uh oh that might hurt.
The Bears onside kicked the ball but it was recovered by the
Giants who drove down the field.
4th and 2 from the 25 and the Giants had a decision
to make. Field goal or go for
it. Since Agent K stinks he field goals he went for it and was stuffed. Thankfully, Agent J was not able to
connect on a bomb and the game ended 14 – 13.
The Overtime Drive
Agent
J (Bears) 16 - Agent K (Giants) 10
Game
number 2 today was quite a battle.
This one wasn’t decided until overtime! During regulation the teams were
evenly matched and no turnovers were committed (a rarity with both Neal
Anderson and Lawrence Taylor on the field together. Late in the first half Agent K missed
a FG and he wondered if it would come back to haunt him, it did. The fourth quarter was where all the
excitement happened. Tied at 7,
Agent J drove down the field and made a chip shot field goal but left
over 2 minutes on the clock.
Agent K kept the ball on the ground and broke off a 50 yard
scamper with David Meggett. Finally on third and 2 and on Agent J’s 18
yard line, Agent K handed the ball to Meggett
who was stopped after a 1 one yard gain. Hmm, decision time. 4th and 1 from the 17,
field goal or go for it. Agent K
decided there wasn’t enough time left to score so he
kicked the field goal. Bring on
overtime. Both Agents did their
pre coin toss rituals, but Agent J’s were apparently more
effective and he won the toss.
After scoring only 10 points all game he drove down methodically
going between the pass and the run and eventually punching in the TD to
win it. What a drive!

The Fumble – Part Deux
Agent K
(Giants) 14 – Agent J (Bears) 9
Today’s game was certainly a defensive
battle that featured the big play.
Agent K only mustered 37 yards rushing and completed a scant two
passes. His offensive woes
included a mere 2 first downs. So
how did he manage 14 points you may ask.
The Phil Simms to Mark Ingram connection was in full effect
today. Agent J was intent on
stopping the dump down, and did, but left himself vulnerable to two long
bombs. Agent J on the other hand
had a somewhat effective offensive day.
The entire first half featured Neal Anderson and netted 7
points. Agent K was in his head
often and picked many of his plays preventing even more points. In the second half, Agent J broke out
some short passes that worked quite well.
In fact, after a 7-7 first half Agent K was getting worried. But a pick and a fumble stymied Agent J’s first
two drives. Agent K completed a
bomb and it was 14-7. Late in the
4th quarter Agent J was on the move again and it was looking
like overtime. Agent J completed a
pass to Wendell Davis who looked like he might go all the way. But, anyone who has played as the
Giants knows that their defense has excellent recovery skills and two
defenders were able to get over and wrap Davis up at the 2 yard line. Davis
decided not to go down lightly and he fought a bit and then, FUMBLE!! Agent
K recovered and with 20 seconds left the game was all but in the
bag. After one handoff, Agent K
decided it wasn’t worth running another play and risking a fumble so he
gave the ball to Ottis Anderson, danced around
a bit, and then ran out the back of the end zone for the game ending
safety. Final 14 – 9.
